Pro-Life Investigative Researcher
The Investigative Researcher will support Restoration News’ research and communications efforts. The Investigative Researcher will work closely with the Executive Director of Research to conduct candidate and issue research, analyze data, and produce high-quality, factually accurate written articles for distribution through both internal and external channels. That includes weekly short-form (under 1,000 words) news articles and irregular long-form (1,000+ words) reports at the Executive Director’s discretion and assignment. This role will report to the Executive Director of Research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct original and informative research and analysis on issues and political candidates of interest to Restoration News and consistent with Restoration of America’s mission and core values
- Using your original research, develop, write, and proofread fact-based persuasive news articles of the highest quality as approved by the Executive Director (2-3 per week); news article topics should be a combination of elections of interest and key policy issues (pro-life, abortion, transgenderism)
- From time to time, develop long-form single-issue policy reports (Restoration News Investigations) with guidance from the Executive Director; these reports should demonstrate your issue expertise by identifying an outstanding public concern and offering a specific public policy solution in a way that also enhances Restoration of America’s credibility and prestige
- Perform ad hoc (rapid response) research for articles related to current events and breaking news as assigned by the Executive Director
- Attend and participate in Restoration News internal strategy and brainstorming meetings, company-wide meetings, and external coalition-building events as assigned or approved by the Executive Director
- Use all available research tools (including but not limited to public records requests sent in your name on behalf of the organization) to discover, develop and strengthen information needed for organizational research and policy efforts
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in public policy, journalism, policy research, or related field
- Understand principles of research, organization, and effective communication
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience
- Commitment to Restoration of America’s fundamental values
- The ability to handle multiple projects in a timely fashion
- Excellent writing, teamwork, and attention to detail abilities are required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in an office environment and use a computer for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with standard working hours; occasional travel may be required.
