Out-of-control inflation and falling wages are devastating North Carolinians, according to a new poll
Bidenflation is doing the once-unthinkable in North Carolina: Making it impossible for families to afford basic groceries.
A majority (52 percent) of North Carolina voters say that food costs from Bidenflation is their top concern heading into the 2024 election, according to a new poll by Steve Cortes’ League of American Workers.
They aren’t confused as to the cause, either—by a 40-point margin voters report that the American Dream is now out of reach for most North Carolinians under Joe Biden, especially those without a college degree.
Breaking the Bank
Average family earnings are down dramatically (2.3 percent) since Biden took office in 2021 while inflation has soared. Yet Biden has increased federal spending, the primary cause behind rampant inflation, by a stunning $6 trillion dollars—of which $75 billion went to Ukraine.
To make matters worse, food prices have risen by as much as 20 percent in just 3 years even as wages have declined.
When Biden took office, boneless chicken breasts sold for an average $3.26/pound; now it’s $4.23/pound. The price of ground coffee beans is up from $4.59/pound when Biden took office to $6.09/pound today.
Average food prices have increased by 2.6 percent in the last year alone. Cereal and bakery products are up 1.5 percent, fruits and vegetables are up 1.1 percent, beverages up 3.4 percent, and miscellaneous foods up 2.6 percent.
In contrast, under President Trump food prices dropped by as much as 1.8 percent. No wonder most voters (53–32 percent) say that they were better off under Trump than Biden.

Biden Dodges the Blame
As families continue to suffer under this administration’s far-left policies, Biden has tried to place the blame on retailers. “Well, it’s going to stop. Americans, we’re tired of being played for suckers,” Biden recently whined. “And that’s why we’re going to keep these guys [retailers]—keep on them and get the prices down.”
If anyone’s being played for a sucker, it’s the American people.
In February, the North Carolina Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA) sent a letter to Biden responding to his comments. “Our grocers were recently disappointed by your remarks . . . that American consumers were tired of being ‘played for suckers’ by higher prices on eggs, milk, chicken, gas, and other essential items,” NCRMA president and general counsel Andy Ellen admonished Biden.
He pointed to the war in Ukraine (a major grain exporter), artificially higher gas and energy prices, and “increased shoplifting” as squeezing grocers—none of which were factors under the Trump administration.
The simple fact is, you’re poorer under Joe Biden than you were under Donald Trump—and North Carolinians are starting to feel the burn.
