Polling reveals the Democrats are in big trouble for opening up America’s southern border to fentanyl, cartel traffickers, and an endless stream of migrants.
Mass illegal immigration under President Joe Biden and his “progressive” administration has pushed many North Carolinians to “borderline” frustration, as a myriad of residents recently cited illegal immigration as the leading issue in the United States.
A recent poll by Steve Cortes’ League of American Workers shows that immigration is tied with the economy as North Carolinians’ top concern, with 22 percent reporting the chaos at the southern border as their top concern. That’s twice the number of North Carolinians who report social issues like abortion and the culture war as their top issue heading into the 2024 election.
Across party lines, 41 percent of Republicans, 19 percent of independents, and 19 percent of Democrats rated immigration as the lead issue.
What Is Going On?
The surge in immigration under Biden’s administration is undeniable. Since 2020, an alarming number of nearly 2.3 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border, as reported by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).
This figure, estimated by the group to constitute roughly 16 percent of the believed 16.8 million illegal immigrants in the United States, leaves much to be desired in terms of effective border control. Biden is now fighting against the states that are dying on the front lines, seemingly starting a war against Americans.
Instead of assisting states like Texas and Arizona, he is using the federal government to clear the way for the migrant invasion by removing barbed wire barriers and funding refugee groups.
In January, 25 Republican Governors released statements announcing they would stand with Texas against the federal government. “Because the Biden administration has really, truly abdicated its responsibility to secure the border and enforce the laws, Texas, very simply, is securing the border,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said.
Why are “progressive” politicians supporting an invasion? Well, simply put, it boosts their numbers.
Democratic Rep. Yvette Clarke (NY) inadvertently exposed the Democrat plan of using illegal immigrants as a key voter block in redistricting earlier this year.
“And when I hear colleagues talk about the doors of the inn being closed, ‘no room in the inn,’ I’m saying, I need more people in my district, just for redistricting purposes. And those members could clearly fit here,” Clarke said.
In response, Republican Sen. Bill Hagerty (TN) intends to introduce legislation that will put citizenship questions on the next U.S. Census questionnaire in 2030. The move is intended to stop non-citizens from being counted for redistricting.
Former President Donald Trump attempted to block migrants from the census in 2020, but a federal court ruled the initiative violated federal law. The court could not decide that it violated the Constitution.
The situation has gotten so out of hand that even blue cities are crying out for help under the massive weight of the recent influx. In October 2022, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) announced a state of emergency due to a record number of illegal immigrants.
Since spring 2022, more than 150,000 illegal immigrants have flooded the streets of the city, costing New Yorkers an estimated $12 billion to house, feed, and clothe them. The state estimates an additional $4.3 billion for fiscal year 2024–25.
In Jan. 2024 alone, migrant support cost taxpayers $662 million. It is unlikely that the state can continue to withstand this financial toll, especially considering Biden’s lack of support. “The president and the White House have failed New York City on this issue,” Adams said in April.
Thankfully, House Republicans have begun to fight back against the Biden administration’s failures at the border, voting to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of the migrant crisis.
Mayorkas has “demonstrated he will remain a threat to national and border security” and “acted in a manner grossly incompatible with his duties and the rule of law,” the measure says.
If the border remains unsecured, the illegal immigrant crisis in America is poised to escalate even further. As cities nationwide grapple with the repercussions of the mass influx, Biden continues to fight for everyone except Americans.
