Under the Republican President, China was forced to crack down on illicit fentanyl flowing into the United States. Then the CCP found a friend in Joe Biden.
1 in every 44 Wisconsinites will die from a drug overdose in Joe Biden’s borderless America. If that sounds scary, it only gets worse.
Since 2020, Milwaukee has become the opioid capital of Wisconsin and one of the worst in the nation, with a stunning 60 deaths per 100,000 people—more than twice the statewide average of 25 per 100,000 people.
Black and Native American Wisconsites suffer the worst, with outrageously high death rates of 78 per 100,000 and 98 per 100,000 people, respectively. Men are more than twice as likely to die from overdose as women.
The explosion in drug-related deaths is overwhelmingly driven by the Chinese-manufactured fentanyl imported from Canada and Mexico. At least some of it is even subsidized with strategic tax breaks by the Chinese Communist Party to deliberately kill Americans, according to investigative reporters Ben Westhoff and Peter Schweizer.
Very little is created here; almost all of the fentanyl trade is controlled by a handful of Mexican drug cartels, which receive chemicals and equipment from China to manufacture and smuggle the pills through Joe Biden’s wide-open border.

On March 1, federal agents caught a smuggler carrying $11 million in fentanyl pills into California—enough to kill some 28 million people, since just a few grains are lethal to the average adult. On March 15, Texas agents caught another smuggler with 121 grams of fentanyl concealed in his underwear. Smugglers either sell it as painkillers or (accidentally) mix lethal doses into heroin and cocaine to raise their potency.
Kenosha County reported 43 drug-related deaths in 2023; 32 of them involved fentanyl. In La Crosse County, 72 percent of drug-related deaths were from fentanyl. In Milwaukee, fatal overdoses are 50 percent higher than they were in 2019.
A record 112,000 Americans died last year from fentanyl overdoses, almost as many as died in World War II. Fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans under 45—higher than car accidents, cancer, and suicide.
That’s war by any other name… and it could’ve been avoided. Then Joe Biden opened the border.

Blood On His Hands
In 2019, the Trump administration successfully pressured Chinese President Xi Jinping to crack down on illicit fentanyl production—something even the Left hailed as a “major policy shift” from the Chinese. (Read the impressive story yourself for an example of the tough, effective diplomacy we’re sorely lacking in 2024.)
Trump followed up by urging FedEx, UPS, and shipping companies to refuse all fentanyl deliveries. And it worked, dramatically reducing Chinese shipments seized at the border. Then Democrats ousted Trump from office and opened the border with an executive order in Feb. 2021—and drug imports soared.
From 2021–22, fentanyl seizures nearly doubled to 1,325 pounds as Biden eased up on China and leashed Border Patrol agents.
No longer under pressure from the White House, drug traffickers once more exploit an obscure 1930 law (“de minimis”) that waives routine customs inspections for some 3 million small packages entering the U.S. every day, 60 percent of which originate in China. Smugglers aren’t stupid; they know they can avoid scrutiny by splitting shipments into smaller packages, with the blessing of the U.S. government.
According to one report, 20,000 American fentanyl overdose deaths are attributable to this legal loophole that Biden refuses to close, even with pressure from some Democrats. Closing it could cut drug-related deaths by an astonishing 20 percent.
The Trump administration acknowledged the de minimis loophole and took action on it. Why won’t Joe Biden?
